A Photography Competition for Young People

“While You’re Visiting Peterborough, Please Look At...”

Introduction

Peterborough is full of hidden gems, unexpected sights, and bursts of creativity waiting to be discovered. From historic corners and quirky buildings to colourful street scenes and quiet moments in nature, there’s inspiration all around. We’re inviting young photographers aged 5 to 16 to capture what makes our city truly special – and to share it with the world through their own unique perspective. Every photo is a chance to show Peterborough as it’s never been seen before.

Who can enter?

Young people attending Peterborough Schools in these age groups:

  • Key Stage 1 (5–7)
  • Key Stage 2 (7–11)
  • Key Stage 3 (11–14)
  • Key Stage 4 (14–16)

What should you photograph?

Anything in Peterborough that makes you stop and say: “Wow – people should see this!” That might be: A hidden detail on a building, a quirky street or sculpture, a vibrant community moment, something funny, beautiful or unexpected. We don’t want standard tourist shots – we’re looking for creativity, surprise and originality!

Notes for Teachers & Parents

Encourage creativity!

This is a great class project for art, photography or PSHE. Let children explore their environments and
talk about what makes Peterborough their city.

Equipment? No Problem!

Smartphones, tablets, and school iPads are all perfectly fine. It’s not about having the best gear, but about capturing a moment, a feeling, or a hidden detail that tells a story.

Safeguarding

Photos should not include identifiable faces unless parental consent is given. We’re happy to work with schools on anonymising data where needed.
